The house of the Karenins exuded a sense of calm and tranquility. The walls were covered with soft, pastel-colored wallpaper, while the drawing rooms were filled with a serene light filtering through the large windows, all draped with immaculate white curtains.
The arrangement of the furniture was impeccable, creating a feeling of absolute order.
Anna Karenina, Lev Tolstoj, 1878.
